Follow The Directions

01

Step

Allow the thawed bread dough to rise in a warm place until doubled in size. (30-60 minutes)

02

Step

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a baking sheet.

03

Step

On the prepared baking sheet, gently spread the dough into a large rectangle.

04

Step

In a bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, 2 tablespoons of Parmesan cheese, 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, parsley, oregano, garlic powder, and black pepper. Spread this mixture evenly over the dough. Layer with pepperoni, ham, and provolone cheese.

05

Step

Heat 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped bell pepper, onion, and sliced mushrooms. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are tender. (5-10 minutes) Spoon the sautéed vegetables over the provolone layer.

06

Step

Carefully roll the dough around the filling, ensuring a tight seal. Place the stromboli, seam side down, onto the prepared baking sheet. In a small bowl, beat the egg whites until frothy. Brush the egg whites over the top of the stromboli. Sprinkle with the remaining 1 teaspoon of Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning.

07

Step

Bake in the preheated oven until the crust is golden brown and the filling is heated through. (30-40 minutes) Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

For a richer flavor, consider adding a thin layer of pesto or marinara sauce before adding the meats and cheeses.
Feel free to customize the filling with your favorite meats, cheeses, and vegetables. Consider adding cooked sausage, spinach, roasted red peppers, or olives.
To prevent the bottom of the stromboli from becoming soggy, you can place a pizza stone in the oven while preheating. This will help to ensure a crispy crust.
If the crust is browning too quickly, tent the stromboli with foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.
Leftover stromboli can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
