For an even more intense maple flavor, try using maple extract in addition to the maple syrup. The dough can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Allow it to come to room temperature slightly before shaping. For a softer cookie, slightly underbake them. They will continue to bake as they cool on the baking sheet.
