Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves until well combined. (3 minutes)

03

Step

Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, cut the cold butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. (5 minutes)

04

Step

Pour in the milk and molasses, stirring until just combined and all dry ingredients are moistened. Be careful not to overmix. (2 minutes)

05

Step

Turn the dough out onto the prepared baking sheet. Gently shape it into a 3/4-inch thick, 8-inch round disk. (3 minutes)

06

Step

Sprinkle the top of the disk with raw sugar. Use a sharp knife or bench scraper to cut the disk into 8 wedges. (2 minutes)

07

Step

Bake in the preheated oven until the scones are golden brown, approximately 17 to 20 minutes. (17-20 minutes)

08

Step

Let the scones cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

For best results, ensure your butter is very cold. This will create a flakier scone.
Feel free to experiment with adding other spices such as nutmeg or cardamom.
A simple powdered sugar glaze with a touch of ginger extract would complement these scones beautifully.
These scones are delicious with a cup of hot tea or coffee.

I love the hint of molasses in these scones. They're not too sweet and have a wonderful, warm spice flavor.

These were so easy to make and tasted amazing! I added a little orange zest to the dough for extra flavor.

I have tried other recipes, but this is by far the best, it always turns out great!
