Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium-high heat. (1 minute)

02

Step

Add the minced ginger and cook, stirring constantly, until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the ginger; aim for a light golden color. (1-2 minutes)

03

Step

Pour in the water and add a pinch of sea salt. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil. (3 minutes)

04

Step

Stir in the jasmine rice, then immediately cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid. Reduce the heat to the lowest setting to maintain a gentle simmer. (1 minute)

05

Step

Cook undisturbed until the rice is tender and all the water has been absorbed. (15 minutes)

06

Step

Remove the pot from the heat and let it stand, covered, for 5 minutes to allow the rice to finish steaming. (5 minutes)

07

Step

Fluff the rice gently with a fork. Season to taste with salt and freshly ground black pepper. (1 minute)

08

Step

Serve hot, with lime wedges for squeezing over the rice.

For an extra layer of flavor, try toasting the rice in the melted butter and ginger for a minute before adding the water.
If you don't have jasmine rice, long-grain rice can be substituted, but jasmine rice is ideal for its fragrance and slightly sticky texture.
Feel free to adjust the amount of ginger to suit your taste preferences. Start with 1 tablespoon and add more if you like a stronger ginger flavor.

I accidentally used too much ginger, but it still tasted great! I'll be more careful next time.
