Add the orzo pasta to the boiling broth. Cook, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking, until the pasta is tender yet firm to the bite (al dente), about 7-10 minutes.

Stir in the chopped fresh spinach. Cook until the spinach wilts and becomes tender, about 2-3 minutes.

Season the soup with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Be sure to taste and adjust seasonings as needed.

For a richer flavor, consider using homemade chicken broth.
If you prefer a smoother soup, you can use an immersion blender to partially or fully blend the soup after the spinach has wilted.
Other pasta shapes, such as ditalini or small shells, can be substituted for orzo.
To make this soup vegetarian or vegan, substitute vegetable broth for chicken broth and omit the Parmesan cheese garnish.
