Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Unroll 1 tube crescent roll dough; spread into the bottom of the prepared pan. Seal dough seams to prevent separation. (5 minutes)

03

Step

Roll almond paste to size of dough in the baking pan; trim with a knife or a pizza cutter. Set aside. (5 minutes)

04

Step

In a bowl with an electric mixer, beat mascarpone, 1/2 cup white sugar, and egg yolk until well combined and smooth; spread evenly on top of dough in the pan. Place reserved almond paste on top of mascarpone layer. (10 minutes)

05

Step

Unroll remaining 1 tube crescent roll dough; place on top of almond paste layer ensuring dough completely covers. Seal dough seams. (5 minutes)

06

Step

Beat egg white in a bowl; brush onto dough top. Sprinkle almonds evenly over dough; sprinkle 1 tablespoon white sugar evenly over almonds. (5 minutes)

07

Step

Bake in the preheated oven until top is golden brown, 25 to 30 minutes. Cool. (30 minutes)

08

Step

Meanwhile, whisk confectioners' sugar and water together in a bowl; drizzle over cooled Danish. (5 minutes)

For an extra touch of elegance, consider adding a few drops of almond extract to the mascarpone mixture.
If you don't have mascarpone cheese, cream cheese can be used as a substitute.
Store leftover pastries in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.

Next time, I'll try using a different type of cheese. Mascarpone is a bit too rich for my taste.
