Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a saucepan, combine water, rice, oregano, basil, sage, cayenne pepper, Creole seasoning, salt, pepper, and lemon zest; bring to a boil. (2 minutes)

02

Step

Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until rice is tender and liquid has been absorbed. (20-25 minutes)

03

Step

In a large pan over medium-low heat, mix olive oil and vegan margarine. (1 minute)

04

Step

Stir rice into oil mixture and add green bell pepper, carrot, celery, tomato, and soy sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

05

Step

Cook and stir until mixture is heated through. (5 minutes)

For an extra layer of flavor, try toasting the rice in the pan for a few minutes before adding the water.
Feel free to experiment with different vegetables, such as zucchini, mushrooms, or peas.
Add a splash of lemon juice at the end for brightness.
Use brown rice instead of white rice.
