Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, dry yeast, and salt. Add the warm water, olive oil, and honey. Whisk vigorously for about 5 minutes until a thin, batter-like dough forms. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 1/2 hours, or until bubbly. Gently stir with a ladle to release the bubbles. (1.5 hours)

03

Step

Generously oil a cast-iron skillet with olive oil. Transfer the batter into a squeeze bottle or a zip-top bag with a snipped corner. Carefully pour the batter into the skillet, starting from the center and spiraling outwards. Avoid mixing the batter with the oil. If small oil bubbles appear on the surface, use a paring knife to gently swirl them into the dough.

04

Step

Place the skillet over medium-high heat. Wait for bubbles to form across the entire surface and the edges begin to dry slightly. Flip the pizza and continue cooking. The bubbly side should be dry and golden brown; the bottom should be deeply browned, approximately 4 to 5 minutes per side. The exact time will depend on the thickness of the batter. (8-10 minutes)

05

Step

Remove the skillet from the heat. Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce over the crust and sprinkle with your favorite toppings. Avoid overloading the pizza.

06

Step

Position an oven rack about 6 inches from the broiler and preheat the broiler to high.

07

Step

Carefully place the skillet under the broiler until the toppings are cooked and bubbly, about 3 to 4 minutes. Watch closely to prevent burning. (3-4 minutes)

For a crispier crust, preheat the cast-iron skillet in the oven before pouring in the batter.
Feel free to experiment with different flours, such as bread flour or whole wheat flour, for a unique flavor and texture.
Ensure your toppings are pre-cooked, as the broiling time is relatively short.
Add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the dough for a subtle kick.
