Follow The Directions

01

Step

Prepare the Peanut Sauce: In a small bowl, combine peanut butter, 1 teaspoon of chili sauce, and lime juice. Stir until smooth and well blended. Set aside. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Make the Carrot Slaw: In a separate bowl, combine the carrots, cucumber, and jalapeño. Stir in rice vinegar and fish sauce. Let it sit to allow the flavors to meld while you prepare the chicken. (10 minutes)

03

Step

Prepare the Chicken Patties: In a mixing bowl, combine garlic, basil, coconut milk, bread crumbs, soy sauce, the remaining 1 teaspoon of chili sauce, cumin, and turmeric. Add the ground chicken and mix thoroughly until well combined. The mixture will be soft. (5 minutes)

04

Step

Taste Test & Season: Fry a small piece of the chicken mixture in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat until browned and cooked through. Taste the cooked chicken and adjust the seasoning of the raw mixture with cayenne pepper and salt, to your preference. (10 minutes)

05

Step

Cook the Chicken Patties: Spoon 1/4 of the chicken mixture into the skillet, shaping it into a patty. Cook for approximately 5 minutes until the bottom is nicely browned. Flip and cook for another 5 minutes, or until the patty is cooked through and no longer pink inside. Repeat with the remaining chicken mixture to create 3 more patties. (20 minutes)

06

Step

Assemble the Burgers: Spread about 1 teaspoon of the prepared peanut butter sauce onto each half of the hamburger buns. Place a chicken patty on each bottom bun, top with 1/4 of the carrot slaw, and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of fresh cilantro leaves. Cover with the top bun and serve immediately. (5 minutes)

For an extra layer of flavor, try grilling the chicken patties instead of pan-frying.
If you prefer a milder flavor, reduce the amount of chili sauce or omit the jalapeño from the slaw.
The chicken mixture can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
Toast the hamburger buns for added texture and flavor.
