Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and water. Bring to a gentle boil over medium-high heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. (Approximately 5-7 minutes). Remove from heat and allow to cool completely. (Approximately 30 minutes)

02

Step

In a large 6-quart container, combine the cooled sugar syrup with pineapple juice, lemonade concentrate, orange juice concentrate, and pureed strawberries. If desired, stir in rum to taste. Transfer the mixture to a large, freezer-safe container, such as a plastic ice cream pail. Freeze overnight until solid. (Approximately 8 hours or overnight)

03

Step

To serve, scoop approximately 1/2 cup of the frozen slush into an 8-ounce glass. Top with chilled lemon-lime soda, stir gently, and serve immediately with a straw. (Approximately 2 minutes per serving). The remaining frozen mixture can be stored in the freezer for up to one month.

For a non-alcoholic version, simply omit the rum. The slush is equally delicious without it!
Fresh strawberries will provide the best flavor, but frozen strawberries work perfectly well, especially when out of season.
Adjust the amount of rum to your preference. Start with a smaller amount and add more to taste.
Be sure to allow the sugar syrup to cool completely before combining it with the other ingredients to prevent melting the frozen concentrates.
Garnish your slush with fresh strawberry slices or a sprig of mint for an extra touch of elegance.
