Follow The Directions

01

Step

Sauté the Beef: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the chopped dried chipped beef and cook, stirring frequently, until lightly browned and slightly crispy. This should take approximately 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

02

Step

Combine and Blend: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, horseradish, green bell pepper, red bell pepper, and black pepper. Using an electric mixer, whip the ingredients together until smooth and well blended. (Approximately 3-5 minutes)

03

Step

Incorporate the Beef: Gently fold in 2/3 of the cooked beef into the cream cheese mixture until evenly distributed. (Approximately 2-3 minutes)

04

Step

Shape the Ball: Using your hands or a spatula, shape the mixture into a ball. Place the ball on a plate or tray.

05

Step

Coat and Chill: In a separate shallow dish, combine the remaining cooked beef and the shredded Cheddar cheese. Roll the beef ball in the mixture, ensuring it is fully coated. Wrap the coated ball tightly in plastic wrap.

06

Step

Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the beef ball for at least 1 hour, or preferably 2-3 hours, to allow the flavors to meld and the ball to firm up. Remove from the refrigerator 15-20 minutes before serving. Serve with an assortment of crackers, vegetables, and tortilla chips.

For a smoother texture, ensure the cream cheese is fully softened before whipping.
Adjust the amount of horseradish to suit your taste preferences; start with less and add more as needed.
Feel free to substitute the Cheddar cheese with another cheese of your choice, such as Gruyere or Parmesan.
If you're short on time, you can skip the chilling step, but the flavors will be more pronounced if you allow the ball to chill.

The beef ball was a bit too salty for my taste, so I reduced the amount of dried beef slightly and it turned out perfectly.
