Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a baking dish with cooking spray. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Place cauliflower in a microwave-safe bowl with 1/2 cup water. Microwave until tender-crisp, about 5 minutes. Drain well and transfer to the prepared baking dish. (7 minutes)

03

Step

In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and flour until smooth. Gradually add the milk, whisking constantly to prevent lumps. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the cauliflower florets. (5 minutes)

04

Step

Sprinkle the shredded Cheddar cheese evenly over the cauliflower, followed by a light dusting of ground paprika. (2 minutes)

05

Step

Bake in the preheated oven until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden brown, and the cauliflower is tender, 30 to 40 minutes. Let cool slightly before serving. (40 minutes)

For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding a clove of minced garlic or a pinch of nutmeg to the egg mixture.
Feel free to substitute other cheeses, such as Gruyere, Monterey Jack, or a blend of your favorites.
If you prefer a crispier topping, broil the gratin for the last 1-2 minutes, keeping a close eye to prevent burning.
To save time, you can steam the cauliflower instead of microwaving it.
