For a macrobiotic version, substitute maple syrup for agave nectar. Feel free to add 1/2 cup of blueberries or other berries to the batter for added flavor and nutrition. These muffins are best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
