Follow The Directions

01

Step

Prepare the Base: In a saucepan over low heat, melt 1/2 cup butter. Stir in granulated sugar and cocoa powder until smooth. Whisk in egg and vanilla extract. Remove from heat and thoroughly combine graham cracker crumbs, coconut, and walnuts. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Chill the Base: Press the mixture firmly into a 9x9-inch square pan. Refrigerate until completely cold, approximately 1 hour. (1 hour)

03

Step

Prepare the Blackberry Custard Filling: In a mixing bowl, cream together 1/3 cup softened butter, custard powder, and milk until smooth and creamy. Gradually incorporate confectioners' sugar, about 1 cup at a time, until the mixture is very smooth and free of lumps. Gently fold in the blackberries. (10 minutes)

04

Step

Chill the Filling: Spread the blackberry custard filling evenly over the chilled base. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the filling to set. (30 minutes)

05

Step

Prepare the Chocolate Ganache Topping: Melt chocolate and 2 tablespoons butter in a saucepan over very low heat, stirring until completely melted and smooth. (5 minutes)

06

Step

Finish and Chill: Remove the chocolate from heat and pour over the filling layer, spreading to cover completely. Return to the refrigerator and allow to set until firm, at least 30 minutes. (30 minutes)

07

Step

Serve: To cut, dip a very sharp knife into boiling water for a clean cut. Cut into squares while the knife is hot.

For a more intense blackberry flavor, consider using blackberry extract in the custard filling.
Ensure the base is firmly pressed into the pan for a clean and even foundation.
If the chocolate topping is too thick, add a teaspoon of vegetable oil to thin it out.
These bars are best stored in the refrigerator to maintain their texture and prevent melting.
