For an even more intense peanut butter flavor, swirl a spoonful of peanut butter on top of the batter before baking. If you don't have buttermilk, you can substitute with 1/4 cup of milk mixed with 1 teaspoon of lemon juice or white vinegar. To prevent the top from browning too quickly, tent the loaf with foil during the last 20 minutes of baking. This bread is best stored at room temperature, tightly wrapped, for up to 3 days.
