Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and lightly flour a fluted tube pan (such as a Bundt® pan). (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, 1/3 cup rum, 1/2 cup water, and vegetable oil. Beat with an electric mixer on low speed until smooth, about 3 minutes. (5 minutes)

03

Step

Pour the batter into the prepared pan, ensuring it's evenly distributed. (2 minutes)

04

Step

Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, approximately 40 minutes. (40 minutes)

05

Step

While the cake is baking, prepare the rum glaze. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine 1/4 cup rum, 1/4 cup water, granulated sugar, and butter. Stir until the sugar is dissolved and the butter is melted. Remove from heat. (8 minutes)

06

Step

Remove the cake from the oven. While still hot and in the pan, use a long skewer or thin knife to poke holes all over the cake. (3 minutes)

07

Step

Slowly pour the warm glaze over the hot cake, allowing it to soak into the holes. (2 minutes)

08

Step

Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10-12 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely. (12 minutes)

09

Step

Once the cake is completely cool, dust it lightly with confectioners' sugar before slicing and serving.

For a richer flavor, use dark rum in both the cake batter and the glaze.
Ensure the cake is still warm when you pour the glaze for maximum absorption.
If you don't have a fluted tube pan, a 9x13 inch baking pan will also work, but baking time may vary. Check for doneness with a toothpick.
Store the cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
