Stir in the condensed cream of mushroom soup and beer, blending well with the sautéed vegetables. Create a sachet by wrapping the bay leaves and cloves in cheesecloth and tying it securely with string. Add the sachet to the pan. Place the seared roast on top of the vegetables, spooning some of the sauce over the meat. Cover tightly with foil, then place a lid over the foil to seal well, ensuring maximum moisture retention. Reduce heat to the lowest setting and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
