Feel free to adjust the amount of jalapeño to your preferred level of spiciness. For a milder dip, remove the seeds and membranes from the jalapeño before mincing.
This dip can be assembled a day in advance. Simply cover and refrigerate until ready to bake. Add a few minutes to the baking time if baking from cold.
Real crab meat can be substituted for imitation crab, but it is more expensive and may not provide a big enough difference to justify the expense.
