Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. (2 minutes)

02

Step

Add the chopped onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and translucent. (5-8 minutes)

03

Step

Stir in the drained black-eyed peas. (1 minute)

04

Step

Add the cubed processed cheese to the saucepan. (1 minute)

05

Step

Continue to stir until the cheese is fully melted and the dip is smooth and heated through. (Approximately 5 minutes).

06

Step

Serve immediately with your favorite tortilla chips or corn chips. For a warm presentation, transfer to a slow cooker set on low heat.

For a spicier kick, substitute one can of regular black-eyed peas with two cans of jalapeno-flavored black-eyed peas.
To prevent sticking, use a non-stick saucepan or coat the bottom of the pan with cooking spray before melting the butter.
This dip can be made ahead of time. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave before serving.
Try adding a dash of your favorite hot sauce or a sprinkle of smoked paprika for extra flavor.
