Follow The Directions

01

Step
5 mins

In a medium bowl, combine the finely chopped leeks, softened cream cheese, creamy salad dressing, white vinegar, sugar, and bacon bits. (5 minutes)

02

Step
2 mins

Season generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Remember that the bacon bits can be quite salty, so add salt judiciously. (2 minutes)

03

Step
3 mins

Mix all ingredients together thoroughly until well combined and the dip is smooth and creamy. An electric mixer can be used for a smoother texture if desired. (3 minutes)

04

Step
2 hrs

Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 to 3 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and deepen. (2-3 hours)

05

Step
5 mins

Before serving, give the dip a final stir. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. Serve chilled with your favorite buttery crackers, crusty bread, or crudités.

For a richer flavor, use freshly cooked and crumbled bacon instead of bacon bits.
If you prefer a tangier dip, add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
Garnish with a sprinkle of fresh chives or parsley before serving for a pop of color.
This dip can be made up to 2 days in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
To make a lighter version, use reduced-fat cream cheese and salad dressing.

I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out perfectly. The overnight chill really makes a difference.

I used Greek yogurt instead of salad dressing to cut down on the calories. It was still very good, but not quite as creamy.

  • Mattie Ebert

My leeks were a bit strong, so I soaked them in cold water for a few minutes before chopping. It helped mellow the flavor.

I've made this with both store-bought and homemade bacon bits. Homemade is definitely better, but the store-bought ones work in a pinch.

I added a pinch of red pepper flakes for a little heat. It was delicious!
