Follow The Directions

01

Step

Heat oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). (5 minutes)

02

Step

Place the lemon juice in a large bowl. Coarsely grate the potatoes into the lemon juice, stirring well to prevent browning. Stir in the ground beef, onion, bread crumbs, parsley, mint, cinnamon, lemon zest, eggs, salt, and pepper. (10 minutes)

03

Step

Mix well, and shape into oblong balls about 1 inch thick and 2 inches wide. (10 minutes)

04

Step

Place meatballs in hot oil in batches; do not crowd. (2 minutes)

05

Step

Fry until golden brown, and cooked through, about 6 to 7 minutes per batch. (45 minutes)

06

Step

Serve immediately with lemon wedges for squeezing. (2 minutes)

For best results, use a neutral-flavored oil with a high smoke point, such as canola or vegetable oil.
Ensure the potatoes are finely grated to create a smooth and cohesive mixture.
Do not overcrowd the pan when frying, as this will lower the oil temperature and result in soggy meatballs.
Serve these meatballs as a delightful appetizer, a satisfying main course, or even tucked into warm pita bread for a Cypriot-inspired sandwich!
