Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat the broiler. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Heat oil in a large, heavy-bottomed saucepan or deep fryer to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Use a thermometer to ensure accuracy. (10 minutes)

03

Step

Arrange jalapeno chile peppers on a medium baking sheet. Place in the broiler for approximately 5 minutes, turning once halfway through, until lightly browned and blistered. Transfer to a small, airtight container or a bowl covered with plastic wrap to steam. (7 minutes)

04

Step

In a medium bowl, whip together the softened cream cheese, chopped cilantro, minced garlic, salt, and pepper until smooth and well combined. Prepare an egg wash in a small bowl with the beaten eggs. Place the Italian-style seasoned bread crumbs in a separate small bowl. (5 minutes)

05

Step

Remove jalapenos from the container once they are cool enough to handle. Gently remove the skins (they should slip off easily) and stems. Carefully cut off the tops and remove the seeds and membranes for a milder heat, or leave some seeds for extra spice. Stuff each jalapeno with an equal amount of the cream cheese mixture. (20 minutes)

06

Step

Roll each stuffed jalapeno in the egg wash, ensuring it's fully coated. Then, dredge in the bread crumbs, pressing gently to adhere. (10 minutes)

07

Step

Working in batches to avoid overcrowding the oil, carefully deep fry the stuffed, coated jalapenos for 5 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. (15 minutes)

08

Step

Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove any excess oil. Serve immediately with your favorite plum or jalapeno jelly for dipping. (2 minutes)

For a smoother cream cheese filling, use a stand mixer or hand mixer to whip the ingredients together.
Adjust the amount of garlic and cilantro to your preference.
To reduce the heat, remove all seeds and membranes from the jalapenos. Wear gloves when handling jalapenos to avoid skin irritation.
Ensure the oil temperature remains consistent for even cooking.
For a crispier coating, double-dip the jalapenos in the egg wash and bread crumbs.
Poppers can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated before frying. Add a few minutes to the frying time if cooking from cold.
Serve with a variety of dipping sauces, such as ranch dressing, sour cream, or a spicy aioli.

Definitely wear gloves when handling the jalapenos! I learned that the hard way.

Instead of deep frying, I baked them in the oven at 400F for about 20 minutes and they turned out great!

I found the jalapenos a little too spicy, so next time I'll try using a milder pepper like poblano.

These are so much better than the ones you get at restaurants! The homemade breading is key.

The steaming trick worked perfectly for removing the skins! Thanks for the tip.
