Follow The Directions

01

Step

Evenly distribute the brown sugar, maple syrup, butter, and cinnamon between the two acorn squash halves. (2 minutes)

02

Step

Pour 1 cup of water into the Instant Pot. Place a trivet inside the pot. Carefully arrange the squash halves on the trivet, cut-side up. (3 minutes)

03

Step

Secure the Instant Pot lid, ensuring the valve is set to 'Sealing'. Select 'High Pressure' and set the timer for 5 minutes. Allow 10-15 minutes for the pressure to build. (15 minutes)

04

Step

Let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes. Then, manually release any remaining pressure. Carefully remove the squash halves from the Instant Pot. (12 minutes)

05

Step

Serve immediately. The squash should be tender and easily pierced with a fork.

For a deeper flavor, try browning the butter before adding it to the squash.
A pinch of nutmeg or ginger can add extra warmth to the spice profile.
If you prefer a smoother texture, mash the cooked squash with a fork before serving.
Adjust sweetness to taste by adding more or less maple syrup.

Natural release is important. I tried to do quick release immediately after cooking and the squash was undercooked.
