Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat a non-stick crepe pan or well-seasoned skillet over medium-high heat until a drop of water sizzles and evaporates quickly. (2 minutes)

02

Step

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and water until mostly smooth. Add the egg and whisk until fully incorporated. Gradually whisk in the melted butter, caraway seeds, and salt until the batter is completely smooth and free of lumps. (5 minutes)

03

Step

Pour approximately 1/4 cup of batter onto the preheated pan, immediately tilting and swirling the pan to evenly distribute the batter into a thin, circular shape. (1 minute)

04

Step

Cook the crepe until small bubbles begin to form across the surface and the edges appear set and lightly golden, approximately 2-4 minutes.

05

Step

Carefully loosen the edges of the crepe with a thin spatula. With a swift, confident motion, flip the crepe and cook the second side until lightly browned, about 30 seconds.

06

Step

Transfer the cooked crepe to a plate and repeat with the remaining batter, stacking the crepes as you go. Keep the cooked crepes warm under a clean kitchen towel until ready to serve.

For a richer flavor, try browning the butter before adding it to the batter. Watch carefully, as browned butter can burn quickly.
If the batter seems too thick, add a tablespoon or two of water to achieve a thin, pourable consistency.
Feel free to experiment with other spices such as cumin, coriander, or turmeric for a customized flavor profile.
Serve these crepes warm with your favorite Indian curries, chutneys, or yogurt.
