Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Line a jelly roll pan with aluminum foil and place a wire baking rack on top. (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a large pot, combine water, minced garlic, salt, and pepper; bring to a boil. Add chicken legs; cook until tender, about 10 minutes. Drain thoroughly. (15 minutes)

03

Step

Arrange the par-cooked chicken legs on the prepared wire rack. Season generously with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. (5 minutes)

04

Step

Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Flip the chicken legs and continue baking until the juices run clear and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C), about 20 minutes more. (40 minutes)

05

Step

Transfer the baked chicken legs to a slow cooker. Pour the hot pepper sauce and melted butter over the chicken, ensuring they are well coated.

06

Step

Cook on Low setting until the flavors meld and the chicken is infused with the spicy sauce, 1 to 2 hours. (60-120 minutes)

For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding a tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce to the hot pepper sauce mixture.
If you prefer a milder heat, use a less spicy hot sauce or reduce the amount used.
Ensure the chicken legs are fully thawed for even cooking.
Serve with your favorite sides such as coleslaw, mac and cheese, or cornbread.

The cooking time was perfect. The chicken was cooked through but still moist.

  • Chadd Davis

The chicken was tender and juicy, but I found it a bit too spicy for my taste. Next time, I'll use less hot sauce.

I added a little bit of honey to the hot sauce mixture, and it was a great addition.
