Follow The Directions

01

Step
20 mins

In a large sauté pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced onion and cook until translucent, about 8 minutes. Incorporate minced garlic and ground ginger; cook for an additional 2 minutes. Introduce ground turkey; cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned, approximately 5 to 7 minutes. Season generously with ground coriander, cumin, chile pepper, turmeric, garam masala, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Ensure spices are evenly distributed.

02

Step
40 mins

Add diced potato, frozen peas, tomato sauce, water, and bay leaf. Reduce heat to low, cover, and allow to simmer until the potato is tender, about 20 to 25 minutes. Stir in minced bell pepper and fresh cilantro; continue to simmer until heated through, another 5 to 10 minutes.

03

Step
1 hrs 5 mins

Meanwhile, in a separate pan, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add forbidden rice; sauté for 2 to 3 minutes, allowing the grains to toast slightly. Pour in water; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low; simmer until rice is tender and has absorbed most of the liquid, approximately 20 to 40 minutes. Drain off any excess water. Season with 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, a dash of cloves, salt, and black pepper; stir well to distribute the flavors evenly.

For an extra layer of flavor, toast the spices in a dry pan for a minute or two before adding them to the turkey mixture.
If you prefer a spicier dish, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a finely chopped green chili along with the other spices.
Garnish with a dollop of plain yogurt or a sprinkle of chopped nuts for added richness and texture.

I like to add a little bit of cayenne pepper for extra spice.
