Follow The Directions

01

Step

Marinate the Steak (1 hour to overnight): Season both sides of the rib-eye steak with soy sauce and Montreal steak seasoning. Place the steak on a plate, cover it with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to fully penetrate.

02

Step

Prepare the Grill: Preheat an outdoor grill to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grate to prevent sticking.

03

Step

Grill the Steak (Approximately 12 minutes): Place the marinated steak on the preheated grill. Cook for about 6 minutes per side, or until the steak is firm, reddish-pink in the center, and the internal temperature reaches 130 degrees F (54 degrees C) for medium-rare. Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure accuracy.

04

Step

Rest and Slice the Steak (10 minutes): Transfer the grilled steak to a platter. Sprinkle it with fresh lemon juice and loosely cover it with aluminum foil. Let it rest for about 10 minutes, allowing the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more tender and flavorful steak. After resting, slice the steak into thin strips against the grain.

05

Step

Prepare the Sesame Dressing: In a small bowl, whisk together rice wine vinegar, olive oil, sugar, sesame oil, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes until well combined. Adjust the sweetness or spice level to your preference.

06

Step

Assemble the Salad: In a large bowl, combine the romaine lettuce, cucumber, avocado, tomato, carrot, red onion, and sliced steak. Pour the sesame dressing over the salad and toss gently to coat all the ingredients evenly.

07

Step

Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle the salad with toasted sesame seeds for added flavor and texture. Serve immediately and enjoy!

For an enhanced sesame flavor, toast the sesame seeds lightly in a dry pan before adding them to the salad.
Feel free to customize the vegetables in the salad based on your preferences and what's in season. Bell peppers, bean sprouts, or shredded cabbage would be great additions.
If you don't have an outdoor grill, you can also cook the steak in a cast-iron skillet on the stovetop or under the broiler in your oven.
The sesame dressing can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Just be sure to whisk it again before using.

I used a different cut of steak (sirloin) and it was still delicious! Just be sure not to overcook it.
