Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans. (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a bowl, gently crush the thawed strawberries, reserving 1/4 cup of the muddled strawberries for the frosting. (10 minutes)

03

Step

In a large mixing bowl, combine the white cake mix and strawberry gelatin mix. Add the muddled strawberries (excluding the reserved portion), eggs, vegetable oil, and water. Beat with an electric mixer until well combined. (5 minutes)

04

Step

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. (2 minutes)

05

Step

Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. (25 minutes)

06

Step

Let the cakes cool in the pans on a wire rack for 5 minutes, then run a knife around the edges to loosen. Invert the cakes onto the wire rack to cool completely, about 30 minutes. (35 minutes)

07

Step

For the frosting, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together in a bowl until smooth. Mix in the reserved muddled strawberries and vanilla extract. Gradually beat in the powdered sugar until the frosting is smooth and creamy. (10 minutes)

08

Step

Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate and spread with a generous amount of cream cheese frosting. Top with the second cake layer and frost the top and sides with the remaining frosting. (5 minutes)

For an extra burst of strawberry flavor, consider adding a layer of fresh strawberry slices between the cake layers.
To prevent the cake from sticking, line the bottom of the cake pans with parchment paper rounds before greasing and flouring.
If you don't have strawberry gelatin, you can substitute it with an equal amount of strawberry puree for a more natural flavor.
Ensure the cream cheese and butter are fully softened to avoid lumps in your frosting.

My only suggestion would be to reduce the amount of powdered sugar slightly, as it was a bit too sweet for my taste.
