For an extra layer of flavor, consider browning the butter before adding it to the wet ingredients. This will impart a nutty, caramel-like note to the bread. To prevent the chocolate chips from sinking to the bottom of the bread, toss them with a tablespoon of flour before adding them to the batter. If you don't have walnuts on hand, pecans or almonds would also work well in this recipe. This bread freezes beautifully! Wrap cooled loaves tightly in plastic wrap and then in foil. Freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before slicing.
