For a richer flavor, try using diced pancetta or bacon in the skillet before browning the chicken. Remove the cooked pancetta/bacon before browning the chicken and add it back to the sauce for simmering. Adjust the amount of hot pepper sauce to your preference. A pinch of red pepper flakes can also be used. If the sauce becomes too thick during simmering, add a splash of water to thin it out.
