Follow The Directions

01

Step

Warm the milk in a saucepan over medium heat until it just begins to simmer, about 5 minutes. Stir in the salt, shortening, and granulated sugar until dissolved. Remove from heat and allow to cool until lukewarm, about 10 minutes.

02

Step

In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in 1/4 cup of warm water. Let stand for 5 minutes until foamy. Pour the yeast mixture into the lukewarm milk mixture. Add the beaten eggs and flour. Mix until a soft dough forms. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

03

Step

Punch down the dough to release the air. Cover again and let rise for another 40 minutes until doubled.

04

Step

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Divide into three equal portions. Roll each portion into a 9x15-inch rectangle. Spread each rectangle evenly with 2 tablespoons of softened butter.

05

Step

In a bowl, combine the 3/4 cup of light brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle evenly over the buttered rectangles. Starting from the long side, roll each rectangle tightly into a log. Cut each log into 9 equal slices, yielding 27 rolls total.

06

Step

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

07

Step

In a separate bowl, combine the dark brown sugar, butter, toasted pecans, and corn syrup. Sprinkle the mixture evenly into three 9-inch baking pans.

08

Step

Bake for 5 to 10 minutes, or until the caramel is bubbly. Remove from the oven and arrange 9 rolls in each pan. Cover loosely and let rise for another 40 minutes.

09

Step

Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown. Immediately invert the rolls onto a serving platter or aluminum foil. Serve warm and enjoy the burst of flavors.

For a deeper flavor, use dark brown sugar in the dough.
Toasting the pecans enhances their nutty flavor and adds a delightful crunch.
Ensure the milk is lukewarm, not hot, to avoid killing the yeast.
For extra gooeyness, add a tablespoon of heavy cream to each baking pan before adding the caramel mixture.
The rising times may vary depending on the temperature of your environment. Be patient and allow the dough to fully double in size.
