Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large, heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the beef and brown on all sides, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the pot. Remove beef from pot and set aside. Add the chopped onions and crushed garlic to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the tomato paste, diluting it with a tablespoon of water, then add to the pot and cook for another minute, stirring constantly. (15 minutes)

Jul 25, 2024I used a different stout since I didn't have Guinness, and it turned out great. I think you can experiment with the beer type depending on your preference.
