Follow The Directions

01

Step
5 mins

In a large glass or ceramic bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, barbeque sauce, ketchup, honey, and soy sauce. Reserve 1/2 cup of this magnificent mixture and refrigerate for basting. (Prep time: 5 minutes)

02

Step
6 hrs

Add the chicken thighs to the remaining marinade, ensuring they are thoroughly coated in all that flavorful goodness. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and let it luxuriate in the refrigerator for a minimum of 2 hours, or up to 6 hours. The longer it marinates, the deeper the flavor! (Marinating time: 2-6 hours)

03

Step
10 mins

When you're ready to unleash the BBQ magic, preheat your oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). (Prep time: 10 minutes)

04

Step
5 mins

Remove the chicken thighs from the marinade, allowing any excess to drip off. Discard the remaining marinade (it has already given its all!). Arrange the chicken in a single layer in a glass baking dish. (Prep time: 5 minutes)

05

Step
35 mins

Bake in the preheated oven, basting the chicken occasionally with the reserved 1/2 cup of marinade. Continue baking until the chicken is cooked through, no longer pink in the center, and the juices run clear when pierced with a fork. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part should register at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C). (Baking time: 30-40 minutes)

For an even deeper smoky flavor, add a dash of liquid smoke to the marinade.
If you don't have boneless, skinless thighs, bone-in, skin-on thighs will also work. Just increase the cooking time by 10-15 minutes.
Serve these BBQ chicken thighs with your favorite sides like coleslaw, corn on the cob, or baked beans for a complete and satisfying meal.
