Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a large pot, bring 6 cups of water to a gentle boil. Carefully add the baking soda. (2 minutes)

02

Step

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a baking sheet. (5 minutes)

03

Step

In a medium bowl, combine the flour and Greek yogurt until a shaggy dough forms. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 8 to 10 minutes, adding more flour as needed to prevent sticking. (12 minutes)

04

Step

Divide the dough into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into a long, thin rope, approximately 22 to 24 inches in length. Shape each rope into a pretzel by twisting the ends around each other and pressing them onto the center of the loop. (10 minutes)

05

Step

Carefully drop each pretzel into the simmering water and boil for 2 to 3 minutes, or until the pretzel floats to the surface. Remove from the water and drain on paper towels or a wire rack. (10 minutes)

06

Step

Transfer the pretzels to the prepared baking sheet.

07

Step

Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Then, increase the oven temperature to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Brush the pretzels with melted butter and bake for an additional 4 to 5 minutes, or until golden brown. Brush with the remaining butter and sprinkle with coarse salt. (25 minutes)

For a richer flavor, try using brown butter instead of melted butter for brushing.
Experiment with different toppings! Everything bagel seasoning, garlic powder, or a sprinkle of chili flakes can add a unique twist.
If you don't have self-rising flour, you can make your own by combining 1 cup all-purpose flour with 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
