Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside. (2 minutes)

02

Step

Cook bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crisp and browned. Remove with a slotted spoon to a paper towel to drain, reserving the bacon grease in the skillet. (4 minutes)

03

Step

Add apple and onion to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened. Remove from the heat and stir in the bacon. Sprinkle thyme over the apple mixture, and stir in balsamic vinegar. Season with salt and pepper to taste. (8-10 minutes)

04

Step

Place naan on the prepared baking sheet and brush with olive oil. Spread the apple mixture evenly on top. Cover with Gruyere cheese.

05

Step

Bake until naan is golden brown and cheese is melted. Remove from oven, scatter arugula over the top, and serve immediately. (10-12 minutes)

For a vegetarian option, omit the bacon and use a drizzle of maple syrup for added sweetness.
Experiment with different types of apples, such as Honeycrisp or Granny Smith, to vary the flavor profile.
A sprinkle of red pepper flakes can add a touch of heat.
