Follow The Directions

01

Step
5 mins

In a large pot, bring lightly salted water to a rolling boil over high heat. Add the kluski noodles and cook until al dente, about 5 minutes. Drain well. (5 minutes)

02

Step
10 mins

While the noodles cook, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sage sausage, green pepper, and onion. Cook, breaking up the sausage with a spoon, until the sausage is browned and the vegetables are softened, about 10 minutes. Drain off any excess grease. (10 minutes)

03

Step
30 mins

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add the chopped cabbage, the sausage mixture, and the cooked noodles. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender, about 30 minutes. Add water as needed to maintain a slightly moist consistency. Season generously with salt and pepper to taste. (30 minutes)

04

Step

Serve hot, garnished with a dollop of sour cream.

For a richer flavor, consider using homemade chicken or vegetable broth instead of water.
A splash of apple cider vinegar at the end of cooking can brighten the dish.
Leftovers are even more flavorful the next day, as the flavors meld together beautifully.
Adjust the amount of salt and pepper according to your preference, tasting as you go.

I didn't have kluski noodles, so I used egg noodles instead, and it worked perfectly.
