Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and ¾ cup of the granulated sugar until light and fluffy. (3-5 minutes)

03

Step

Beat in the vanilla and maple extracts until well combined. (1 minute)

04

Step

Add the egg and beat until just incorporated. Be careful not to overmix. (1 minute)

05

Step

Gently fold in the toasted pecans until evenly distributed. (1-2 minutes)

06

Step

Gradually add the flour, mixing on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix the dough. (2-3 minutes)

07

Step

Shape the dough into 1 ½ to 2-inch balls. (5 minutes)

08

Step

Roll each ball in the remaining granulated sugar, coating evenly. (3 minutes)

09

Step

Place the sugared dough balls onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie. (2 minutes)

10

Step

Flatten the balls slightly with your hand or a cookie stamp to about ¼ inch thickness. (2 minutes)

11

Step

Bake for 7-9 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown. (7-9 minutes)

12

Step

Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 1-2 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. (60 minutes)

For a deeper maple flavor, try using maple sugar in place of some of the granulated sugar.
To toast the pecans, spread them on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes, or until fragrant.
These cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
