Follow The Directions

01

Step

Engage the Sauté function on your multi-functional pressure cooker (such as an Instant Pot).

02

Step

Add olive oil to the pot and allow it to heat up for about 1 minute. Add the chopped onion and sauté until softened, approximately 2 minutes. Turn off the Sauté function.

03

Step

Add the dried cranberry beans, chicken broth, beer, picante sauce, cilantro, jalapeño peppers, garlic, oregano, and cumin to the pot. Stir well to ensure all ingredients are combined. (2 minutes)

04

Step

Secure the lid, ensuring it's properly locked. Select high pressure and set the timer for 45 minutes. Allow 10-15 minutes for the pressure to build inside the pot.

05

Step

Once the timer goes off, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10-15 minutes, according to the manufacturer's instructions. Carefully release any remaining pressure.

06

Step

Open the pot and season the cranberry beans with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Serve hot and enjoy!

For a smoky depth, consider adding a teaspoon of smoked paprika along with the other spices.
If you prefer a milder flavor, you can reduce the amount of pickled jalapeños or omit them altogether.
These beans are excellent served as a side dish with grilled meats or as a base for vegetarian tacos or bowls.
If you don't have picante sauce, you can substitute with your favorite salsa.
The natural release is crucial for the beans to cook properly and prevents them from bursting. Be patient!
