Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a large, deep skillet over medium heat, cook sausage, beef, onion, and garlic, stirring until browned. (10 minutes)

02

Step

Stir in pasta sauce, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, 3/4 cup parsley, Italian seasoning, sugar, salt, and pepper; bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and cook, stirring occasionally, until flavors meld. (30 minutes)

03

Step

Meanwhile, bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook lasagna noodles in boiling water, stirring occasionally, until cooked but firm to the bite. (8 minutes)

04

Step

Drain and rinse noodles in cold water.

05

Step

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

06

Step

In a large bowl, stir together ricotta, Parmesan, Cheddar, eggs, and remaining 1/4 cup parsley until smooth.

07

Step

Spread 1 cup tomato sauce in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Cover sauce with a layer of lasagna noodles, then spread some ricotta mixture over top. Spread a layer of tomato sauce over ricotta, then place another layer of noodles. Repeat the layering procedure once more. Spread remaining sauce over the final layer of noodles. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over top. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil.

08

Step

Bake in the preheated oven until lasagna is hot throughout and bubbling. (30-40 minutes)

09

Step

Remove the aluminum foil and continue to bake until cheese is golden. (10 minutes)

10

Step

Remove from the oven and let cool before serving. (10 minutes)

For a richer flavor, use a combination of Italian sausage and sweet sausage.
To prevent sticking, ensure the baking dish is well-greased.
Letting the lasagna rest after baking allows the flavors to meld and the structure to set, making it easier to slice and serve.
