Follow The Directions

01

Step

Partially thaw the frozen berries for 1 hour, allowing them to soften slightly but not become completely mushy.

02

Step

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking pan to prevent sticking.

03

Step

In a large bowl, gently toss the partially thawed berries with the white sugar and cornstarch, ensuring the berries are evenly coated. Set aside.

04

Step

In a separate, larger bowl, combine the rolled oats, brown sugar, flour, chopped pecans, and ground cinnamon. Mix well to distribute the ingredients evenly.

05

Step

Using a pastry blender or two knives, cut the cold butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. The colder the butter, the better the crumble!

06

Step

Press half of the crumble mixture firmly onto the bottom of the prepared baking pan, creating a base layer.

07

Step

Bake the crumble base in the preheated oven for 7-8 minutes, or until lightly golden.

08

Step

Remove the pan from the oven and carefully spread the berry mixture evenly over the baked crumble base.

09

Step

Sprinkle the remaining crumble mixture evenly over the berry filling, ensuring all the berries are mostly covered.

10

Step

Return the pan to the oven and continue baking for 30-40 minutes, or until the fruit is bubbly and the topping is a rich golden brown.

For best results, use very cold butter when making the crumble topping. This will create a more tender and flaky texture.
Feel free to experiment with different types of berries or add other fruits like apples or peaches.
If you don't have pecans, walnuts or almonds make a great substitute.
This crumble can be assembled ahead of time and baked just before serving. Cover and refrigerate for up to 24 hours.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or a drizzle of maple syrup.
