For a richer flavor, use brown butter in the cake batter. If you don't have almond extract, vanilla extract can be substituted. Make sure your heavy cream is very cold for the best whipped cream. The strawberry filling can be made a day ahead. For a less sweet cake, reduce the amount of sugar in the cake batter.
