Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Generously butter a 9x13 inch baking dish. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Using a meat mallet, gently pound the pork chops to an even 1/2-inch thickness. Season both sides liberally with sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper. Arrange the chops in the prepared baking dish in a single layer. (10 minutes)

03

Step

In a medium bowl, whisk together the heavy cream and all-purpose flour until smooth. Season lightly with salt and pepper. Pour the cream mixture evenly over the pork chops. Sprinkle the shredded Emmental cheese generously over the top. (5 minutes)

04

Step

Bake in the preheated oven until the pork is cooked through, the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly browned, and the sauce has thickened slightly, about 45 minutes. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. (50 minutes)

For an extra layer of flavor, try browning the pork chops in a skillet with a little olive oil before placing them in the baking dish.
Feel free to experiment with different cheeses. Gruyere, Fontina, or a blend of cheeses would also work beautifully in this recipe.
If the cheese starts to brown too quickly, tent the baking dish with aluminum foil for the last 15 minutes of cooking.
A sprinkle of fresh thyme or parsley adds a vibrant touch to the finished dish.

My sauce was a little thin, so I added a cornstarch slurry during the last 15 minutes of baking.

I added some garlic powder to the pork chops before baking, and it was a great addition.

I used a different type of cheese because I didn't have Emmental on hand, but it still turned out great! Next time I will try it with smoked gouda.

This recipe is so easy, and my family loves it! The cheese sauce is amazing.
