For a richer flavor, use salted butter instead of unsalted, and omit additional salt. Experiment with different herbs and spices in the butter mixture, such as rosemary, thyme, or red pepper flakes. Store cooled crostini in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Reheat in a low oven for a few minutes to re-crisp if desired. These crostini are fantastic with tapenades, cheese spreads, or simply drizzled with balsamic glaze.
