Follow The Directions

01

Step

Melt the butter in a skillet over medium-low heat. (2 minutes)

02

Step

Add the finely chopped onion to the melted butter and cook until softened and translucent, approximately 5 minutes. Transfer the softened onion to a mixing bowl and wipe the skillet clean.

03

Step

In the mixing bowl with the onion, combine the bread cubes, shredded Cheddar cheese, beaten egg, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.

04

Step

Divide the bread cube mixture into 8 equal portions. Roll each portion into a firm ball.

05

Step

Wrap each bread cube ball with a slice of bacon, ensuring it is securely covered. Use toothpicks to hold the bacon in place.

06

Step

Melt the reserved bacon drippings in the same skillet over medium heat.

07

Step

Carefully place the bacon-wrapped balls into the skillet. Cook, rolling constantly to ensure even browning and crisping, for approximately 15-18 minutes, or until the bacon is golden brown and cooked through.

For an even crispier result, consider finishing the Bacon Bombs in an air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for 5-7 minutes, or until the bacon is perfectly crisp.
Feel free to experiment with different cheeses! Gruyere, Monterey Jack, or even a touch of pepper jack can add a unique twist.
If you don't have stale bread, lightly toast fresh bread cubes in the oven for a few minutes to dry them out slightly.
