Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a bowl, combine shrimp, crushed garlic, oyster sauce, smoked paprika, hot sauce (if using), black pepper, and salt. Stir well to ensure shrimp are thoroughly coated. Cover with plastic wrap and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight. (1 hour minimum)

02

Step

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone liner. (5 minutes)

03

Step

Place the entire log of crescent dough on a lightly-floured surface, without unrolling. Cut the log in half. Roll each half into a 5x9-inch rectangle. Then, cut each rectangle into 6 equal 5-inch-long strips, resulting in a total of 12 strips. (10 minutes)

04

Step

Center the large part of a marinated shrimp on a dough strip, along with a generous amount of the marinade (adjust to taste for garlic intensity). Fold one end of the strip over the shrimp, then cover with the other end, ensuring the seam is on the bottom. (15 minutes)

05

Step

Place each wrapped shrimp on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them a couple of inches apart. Repeat with the remaining shrimp and dough strips. (5 minutes)

06

Step

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to create an egg wash. Brush each wrap with the egg wash and sprinkle generously with sesame seeds. (5 minutes)

07

Step

Bake in the preheated oven until the tops are deeply golden brown and the bottoms are well-browned, approximately 20 minutes. (20 minutes)

08

Step

While the shrimp bake, prepare the sauce by stirring together the mayonnaise, mustard, mirin, and hot sauce in a small bowl. Adjust mustard and hot sauce to taste. Serve the shrimp hot, warm, or at room temperature with the dipping sauce on the side. (5 minutes)

For a richer flavor, use high-quality smoked paprika.
Adjust the amount of hot sauce according to your spice preference.
Make sure the seam of the dough is on the bottom to prevent unraveling during baking.
These are best served immediately but can be reheated gently.
