Follow The Directions

01

Step
1 hrs

Place duck in a 12-quart stockpot with enough water to cover by 2 to 3 inches. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer until meat is tender, about 1 hour.

02

Step
10 mins

Remove duck from broth, allow to cool slightly, and pull meat from the bones into bite-sized pieces. Reserve broth.

03

Step
5 mins

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

04

Step
2 mins

In a large roasting pan, gently combine the crumbled cornbread, chopped biscuits, onion, sage, pepper, garlic salt, and salt.

05

Step
2 mins

In a separate bowl, beat the eggs. Pour the beaten eggs over the cornbread mixture. Add the duck pieces to the pan; mix thoroughly to incorporate.

06

Step
3 mins

Gradually stir in the reserved duck broth until the dressing is very moist, achieving a consistency similar to thick pancake batter. Ensure all ingredients are evenly saturated.

07

Step
52 mins

Bake in the preheated oven until a spoon inserted into the center of the dressing can stand up on its own, approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. The top should be golden brown and slightly crusty.

For an even richer flavor, consider using homemade cornbread and biscuits.
Adjust the amount of reserved duck broth to achieve your desired level of moistness. The dressing should be quite moist before baking, as it will dry out slightly in the oven.
If the top of the dressing begins to brown too quickly, loosely cover it with foil during the last 15-20 minutes of baking.
Leftover duck dressing can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat thoroughly before serving.
